My Hometown -- Bau

Hello everybody, er... actually only you, whatever, today I would like to introduce MY HOME TOWN! It is a small town called "Bau", don't know where is Bau, then what about Kuching? don't know; Sarawak? don't know; Malaysia? don't know; Asia? don't know; Earth? don't know, then should I report you to Fox Mulder or MIB?

OK, back to Bau, Bau is a town approximately 30km from Sarawak's capital city, Kuching. Sarawak is the biggest state in Malaysia and it is located in the Borneo island, neighbour of Sabah, Kalimatan (Indonesia) and Brunei. Malaysia is at the south-east Asia, north of Singapore, south of Thailand. Picture is more than a millions words, how about a map*...

Bau Town don't has tall building, the tallest, 3 stories. Shop houses at the center and two Malay Kampung (villages) next to. Other building are markets, hawker centers, police station, fire station, post station (Pos Malaysia), civic center, schools (primary and kindergarten), workshop, mosque, temple etc.

simbol.jpg This the symbol of Bau. The top there are models of pitcher-plant, which represent Bau as a place with a lot of pitcher-plant.
gerai This building is a hawker center, we call it GERAI, where you can get local food especially the SATAY. We usually hang up here during night time, talk, eat and drink.
onito This small Buddha temple is located at the town center. During HIS birthday, usually at the end of the year, this place will be crowded with people. After the ceremony of the birthday, people will enjoy entertainment (singing and dancing) performed at the temporary state next to by local entertainers, sometimes we got super star as well! but very rare.
bonglo.jpg This is our famous temple, the god for this temple is "Bong Lo Sian".
For me, I only went there during Cap Goh Meh (fifteen days after Chinese New Year). For local people, Cap Goh Meh is a celebration day, on this day, there will be shows and parade. The parade is whole day ceremony. Before the parade begin, shop-keepers will ready a station for the god to pray for them. The parade usually started around 10pm from the temple and around the shop houses in this town. The god will stop by at the stations and pray, then continue to next stations then ended the parade at this temple again. The parade will go for second round without the god again in the morning. The parade ended around noon.
At night, there will be a similar night parade, also, started and ended at this temple and go two rounds. After the night parade, people will enjoy singing and dancing performed at the font of this temple. Everthing will ended before midnight.
fairy_c.jpg Fairy Cave, one of the tourist attraction of Bau.
It so call Fairy Cave because some of the statlagmite and stalactite look like a chinese fairy. So it got temple here.
Now a day, there is a 5 storeys stair to get to the main cave, where else people used to climb up there by rope. Still, there is a lot of place for you to climb and enjoy here.
wind_c.jpg This is a river beside the Wind Cave, another tourist attraction.
Now a day people come here to enjoy BBQ, and tracking in the cave.
